Login Screen switching to GUI mode...
Hi,
I have a rather strange situation with my Linux server (thats running RedHat 6.2... Since it was running fine, we never bothered to update the version) I always keep it in the text mode login screen (like Ctrl-Alt-F1) so that I can check for any messages that might have logged... From the past few days(occasionally), when I check it in the morning, it will have gone to the GUI mode login. (Ctrl-Alt-F7) I dont think anyone else would do it because very limited number of people have access to the physical location and I asked all of them and got a negative reply... I was wondering how is this possible? Can there be an attack/rootkit on my machine? I am checking the logs everyday and it looks clean... I appreciate any light on this... Thanks, Manudath |
If GDM or X crash and you're in runlevel 5, then your login screen will pop back up. If the machine is rebooted, you'll get back to that screen as well.
