login problems

Hey guys

Im using FC1 and I have run into a problem lately. For some strange reason when I try to login as root I get a fedora logo and it all freezes up. This happens when I try to login into gnome desktop. However if I do same thing with regular user account it works fine. I checked out the log files and dmesg. Im not sure but it may be cause from Gconf application. But not sure 100%. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Log in as normal user. then can you on gnome-term su to root ?
If no, It is probably caused by /root/.bashrc file. Try to empty it.

see the /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf file. In section [security] should be:
[code]
[security]
...
AllowRoot=true
[\code]

If it is hashed out or set to false, you'll have to change it.

I checked out gdm.conf file and everything seems to be in order. Here is the output

# cat gdm.conf |grep Root
RootPath=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin
AllowRoot=true
AllowRemoteRoot=true

This login freeze happens only when I try to log into Gnome. With KDE it works fine both accounts user and root. Just Gnome freezes up upon root login.

Any other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks guys
