Question log: attempt to access beyond end of device

Hi,

Running RedHat 9 for a web server.

I noticed this entry in my log file... repeatedly.

Can you tell me what it mean and/or what I need to do about it?

Sep 14 05:18:47 dell-linux kernel: attempt to access beyond end of device
Sep 14 05:18:47 dell-linux kernel: 02:00: rw=0, want=11, limit=4
Sep 14 05:18:47 dell-linux kernel: Directory sread (sector 0x15) failed

I got these sorts of messages a little while ago. To fix it I booted into knoppix and ran `e2fsck -f' on the pertinent partition. It turns out that some of the inode data was corrupted. e2fsck fixed it, and I didn't lose any data.
