Exclamation locked drives?

I'm having problems with accessing my floppy, zip, and cdrom drives. when i try to access them as a non-privelaged user, i get an error saying /mnt/cdrom or /mount/whatever doesn't exist. when i try to access them as root, i get an error saying that I don't have 'access rights to this location.' When I look at the folders in my file manager, there is a little lock in the lower right of the icons for the folders. Wandering around on my system, I found a message somewhere specifically stating that the folders/drives were locked. I've accessed all of them before, and i know i didn't lock them. I know their mounted, because when i make another attempt to mount, it says the filesystem is already mounted. If it's any help, I'm usinge Mandrake 8.0, and i usually use KDE because Gnome has a weird window manager. HELP ME!!! I'M A NEWBIE!!!
