LiveCD + ntfs read support

Hello everyone. I had a notebook computer crash on me recently with WinXP Home installed. I'm trying to recover that data from my D:\ partition, but am having problems.

I am trying to find a Linux LiveCD distribution that supports mounting an NTFS drive read-only (I don't care about the write support). I need to be able to boot from CD, mount the NTFS drive, and establish a network connection (wired) to transfer data to another computer on the network.

Any suggestions? I haven't been able to find a LiveCD that supports mounting NTFS readonly out of the box. Any other ideas for recovering the data?

I used Knoppix 3.9 just a few months ago to recover data from my kids PC. I set up a network connection and copied using FTP. Worked like a charm. The drive is NTFS. I had to mount the drive and then I FTPed the files.

Knoppix is supporting read access to NTFS partitions.
Should you need read write, captive ntfs may help: http://www.jankratochvil.net/project/captive/
