LIRC Daemon acting up in opensuse 10.2

On a fresh boot the lirc daemon runs fine. If I hit power on the remote that came with my video card it tells suse to shut my system down. I have IRKick setup (took forever for each button) to handle Kaffeine and kdetv. The thing is, on a fresh boot, IRKick wont connect to the lirc daemon right away. What I did was close down the daemon via yast where can enable/disable services. I then reenabled it. I did it this way because I don't know the commands to do it the shell. After waiting a few seconds IRKick will connect to it and works fine. I didn't change any thing. All I did was pretty much restart the lirc service while logged on to KDE. Here are some screen shots of the error and how I got it working... The thing is I don't want to keep doing this every time I log on. How do I fix it so it works on the get-go?
