I've just seen copies of Linux Voice in a shop! But I didn't buy it. It had a two page spread on Mageia 4 that was all puff and no actual review, and which rated it at 9/10. Since Jesse Smith at Distrowatch called it "slow and buggy" and I couldn't give it more than 5/10, that didn't inspire confidence.

I'm actually running Mageia 4 on one of my computers and I found the review reasonable--it runs like a champ. In fact, I'm "surplussing" an old laptop to my younger son, who is currently computerless, and decided to put Mageia 4 with LXDE on it (it's only got a gig or RAMS) as the best compromise between ease of transition and ease of version updates--I've used the Mageia version update twice and it's pretty smooth (there were a couple of little glitches after the last one, but nothing serious broke).

There seems to be a bug regarding my printer (report filed), which is described in another thread here.

I generally don't expect much from software reviews anyway. Using something for the purpose of a review is not the same as using it day-to-day. At least they used it and didn't just regurgitate a press release!

I was particularly interested in the regex tutorial using solving word puzzles with egrep as a device for learning regex. I've been poking at the tutorial, as regex is a major gap in my Linux knowledge. If I get to be adequate with regex as a result, the entire subscription will have paid for itself.
