Linux versions?
I downloaded peanut linux and cant install it so i am wondering if there is a version of linux that is easy to install. thanks

Redhat and Mandrake are both very easy to install, Slackware is a step up, but still relatively easy is you're willing to use Fdisk. Those are the only distro's i've used, so that's all i can say for now.

Mandrake 9.1 rocks :)

Mandrake 9.1
Slackware 9 - if your patient and don't mind a text based installer. |
yea i have RH 8, 9 and mandrake but i want to try one of those smaller less bloated versions like, peanut, gentoo, or slackware. are any of these easy to install i tried peanut but got lost in the 300 steps you have to do.

Go with slackware, then, definitely. I've had Slack 9 for a while, now, and except for a bit of trouble getting the sound working, i've loved every moment of it. I just got so tired of Mandrake becuase it had graphical tools for everything, and i wanted to learn linux, not just use it.

Redhat and Mandrake are the most common ones that are a breeze to install.

RedHat and Mandrake are only as bloated as you make them. I've just installed RH9 to try it out and if you go for the 'custom' option, you can get it right down to a text only distro with no GUI at all! I would say that isn't too bloated :D

Bajanick
I'd avoid Gentoo - it's considerably more difficult to install relative to Mandrake or Red Hat - for a new Linux user. |
