linux ui design, theme, icon
Hi everyone!
Linux interface kinda bothers me. from daily use, i can see there are differences between gnome and kde in terms of ui design. both desktop environments dont even have a decent pixmap engine comparable to other OSes... i dont see any collaboration between both projects for creating an unified interface ( theme & icon) im not talking about keramik or bluecurve thanks :) just some thought. wat do u think? later :) |
gnome and kde will never look similar because we don't want them to look similar.
Gnome users like gnome, and kde users like kde. If for some reason the two projects would combine, then no one would be pleased as the gnome users would find it to "kde" and the kde users would find it to "gnome" |
:tisk:
first of all im not into the kde or gnome fanboy thing. i use gnome as my DE, i also use considerably amount of gtk and kde apps and im a qt developer. if linux users in the community think the same way as u do then linux is doomed. period. well i just wish there will be another UI effort like bluecurve. |

I think he means he wants to be able to have the same theme for all apps, whether GTK, QT, Gnome, KDE, etc.
I still don't really see the problem, tho: kde-look.org and many other sites have icon themes you can use in any WM, and there's nothing to stop somebody making a GTK theme and a QT theme that both look the same. |
