I heard the UK government is locked into some sort of nasty Microsoft licensing scheme for their IT needs which they'd ideally like to be clear of. I always think of the BBC as the government's media arm (because it is!) and the BBC is generally very pro Linux. Have you heard anything about this licensing scheme? Wasn't there a company in Surrey which is doing a European survey for open source stuff in governemnt?

I seem to recall (again from The Register) that the UK and the EU are to look at Open Source for Govt agencies. I believe the EU Open Source Investigation Team (or whatever they are called) have an office in London.

Probably, bearing in mind how ruthless M$ lawyers are (and how spineless this govt. is where big business is concerned), the contract between Bill and Tony states that M$ is the only OS allowed. And if it isn't, it probably soon will be!
