Question Linux services wu.ftp

Hi

How do I check if my Wuftp Server is running or not???

If not how can I start it? The command wu.ftpd -a doesn't give any response.

Thanks in advance

Don't know which distro you're running, but in Slackware, the ftp service is started on boot from the /etc/inetd.conf file. Check yours and see if it's there and uncommented.

Also, post your distro.

wu-ftpd is an xinetd controlled service. it only runs when an ftp connection is made and only if 'xinetd' is running.

In Red Hat systems, after installing wu-ftpd, you need to enable it using this command:

chkconfig wu-ftpd on
Then, if you make an ftp connection to this machine, you can check the running ftp processes using this command:

ps aux | grep ftp
Good thing to check:

- wu-ftpd is enabled
- xinetd is running
- your machine allows incoming ftp connection
