Linux research

Hello there.

I studdy computer science and I have to do some research for my studdy.
School dusn't care what abould. I would like to do somting with linux. But I don't realy no what to reseach yet. I don't have to build any thing but i must write an assay on the subject in wich i answere the question of my research.
I would like to reasurch something usefull.

any sugestions?

PS: I'm not saying I'm going to do any of them but there might be some good idea`s I can use.

you could do some research on what is open source http://www.opensource.org/ and how it can be used to help us.

Or you could research how microsoft is a monopoly, believe it or not some of my friends say microsoft is a legitimate business. But they don't use ethical business practices.

Mabie research what it would take for linux to come into the desktop market.

some non-technical examples for you.

Thanks!!!! The openScource is verry interesting but it`s a bit more in to Economics thans computers. I don't think school will agree on the subject.

It must be a bit more tech.
I have binn thinking abould comparing SDL to Directdraw.
or the NT core to the Linux core.

Or maby i could write a how to for some nasty question.

Any more sugestions?

I don't know that you're gonna be able to compare Linux kernel with NT kernel, with the latter not being open-sourced. You could, however, compare Linux kernel with xxxBSD kernels.

Or, a howto. Always a good move, gives your tutors a good read, and adds another resource to the community.

nice :) Or I could just take the hole linux kernel apart :)
Any more sugestions?

If i would write a how to:
Any burnig questions for a howto?
I't cant be like how to set your reselution in X, that won't do....

Do research on linux itself, the evolution of linux from early 1990's till nowadays, research how support for different hardware was evolving, it includes the kernel performance and support improvement over time.

That will be a bit large to go in to some deep tech. I don't think i could get that to fit in 50 pages :)
I could compare 2.2x and 2.4x.
Would it be to daring to try and find things that could be improved in the Linux kernel? I am not a real guru.

To day I found my "true love" again my ATARI 1024STfm I wonder if I could get Linux running on it....... I think I could fix nic in/on it and I have 30MB HDD on it already. My be I could make something out of it... But then if I could would that fit in 50 pages... I could do some study on A.I. or DNA-computing.... But I know some about those already and I would like to do something with Linux . still think comparing the Linux kernel to the openBSD kernel is the bast idea till now...

Apparently you can get Linux on the ol' Atari.
The Linux/m68k Home Pages

You can also use an Atari ST machine as a Linux terminal
