Read a good intro book of linux. Install one of linux distro in your computer and use it daily. Redhat is company which sells Linux based products. In old there used to be Redhat Linux but now these days it called RHEL (Redhat Enterprise Linux) which comes for a price. Another descendant of old Redhat Linux is Fedora.

And there are already many posts by beginners asking same/similar questions. So a search of LQ would help.

Red Hat is free of cost you don't pay for Red Hat but you pay for the subscription to get updates and support from Red Hat. I wouldn't suggest to go for Fedora instead I would suggest to go with CentOS which is again an open source OS and you gets updates free of cost. For support related stuff you can always login to CentOS community or drop your query hear at LQ.

Here is the link which is for Linux for beginners: http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_boo...ers_index.html . You can navigate to CentOS part. As you said you are beginner I would say stick to a distribution (distribution mean Operating system like CentOS, Debian etc) for six months and then switch to another distribution. This will give you a feel for Linux. You will be able to make out what is common between different distribution and what differentiates them. This way you will be able to grasp any new Linux distribution quite easily.

Enjoy Linux!!!

yes, redhat and centos are similar. Choose centos (instead of redhat) that is totally free. You need to go to the home page and look for additional information (like how to download, install, ...)
Also you can try http://distrowatch.com/dwres.php?resource=major

First of all why you only want to go with RHEL7, I mean is there a particular reason behind that. As I said with RHEL 7 you won't get any support from Red Hat if you just download it and don't pay them for support / subscription. Even in open source community if you come up with any issue for RHEL 7 we can try our best to provide any solution but at the end we might have to ask you to contact Red Hat which you can't as you have not got the subscription.

Secondly, RHEL7 and CentOS 7 as far as I am aware are only available in 64 bit version. Nowadays 64 bit is pretty common and I doubt they have released 32 bit version for them. Though both of them do support 32 bit application running on them. If you have got 32 bit processor I would suggest downloading CentOS 6

Not CentOS 6 or RHEL 6 is not totally similar to CentOS 7 or RHEL 7. In CentOS 7 and RHEL 7 they have made quite a lot of changes. You might want to have a look at the following link: http://wiki.centos.org/Manuals/ReleaseNotes/CentOS7

No it is not possible to install a 64 bit operating system on a 32 bit machine. And as I said CentOS 7 comes in 64 bit version as far as I am aware.

Let me put it this way, here is the link from where you can download CentOS 7: http://isoredirect.centos.org/centos...x86_64-DVD.iso

However, all the link I can see are for 64 bit system. So if you don't have a 64 bit system you just cannot run 64 bit operating system. So if you want to practice either practice with CentOS 6 which is available in 32 bit version as well else get a 64 bit machine.

You are not reading the comments I made. Did you read my comment where I asked you to look at the differences between CentOS 6 and CentOS 7? Did you look at the link and try to find out the differences?

Linux is Linux, if you know how to work on one you will grasp other one easily. How quickly you can grasp depends on you.

That is not something I can answer, it depends on you how you see it and how quickly you can pick it up.
