Linux Ram Drive

Is there a (already concieved ) way to make a ram drive like in the old dos. I need a file in ram that can be read from or written to by a small php script I wrote. this "file" changes constantly. Possibly more than once per sec..

mkfs -t ext2 /dev/ram0
mount /dev/ram0 /mnt
Then you can have any files on that.
