Linux Questions


I have got some doubt in Linux can any one help me these are some of my doubts:

1) I a person try to enter into a Linux system without the root password that means using the "Single Mode" then also he has to change the real root password is there any way to get into without changing the root password also.

2) During Installation I decided not to Install any boot loader after the installtion I want to Install any boot loader or if suppose I want to install any third party boot loader then how.

3) If suppose during the installtion not given any password for the boot loader after the installtion want to give the password then how it possible.


Please try to send the solution for these problems.

Ok, this is a really weird post ...

If you enter in the single-user mode you dont *have* to change the root password, except if you have some very weird distro.

If you chose not to install a boot loader, how do you get into your OS? If somehow I'm the stupid one here and don't understand this please explain.

For the booltloader choice I would warmly recommend GRUB, the allpowerful allpurpose bootloader with (sort of) nice looks and password capabilities.

1)boot from any distro or CD

then mount that root partition
chroot to that partiton and change the root password

3.) use GRUB
this is a good bootloader
thisrd party bootloaders are not consistent
