Is ext3 the more safe format ???

Thank you.

ext3 is a more "safe" filesystem in that it is a journaling filesystem, which saves a lot of the hassle of a filesystem such as ext2 if it suddenly goes down. If you want a good overview of all of the partitions, in the gentoo installation guide there is an excellent guide to the various filesystems available: the pros and cons of all.

I would say go with ext3. ext3 is the same thing but with what is called journaling, this way if you suddenly loose power or your computer restarts suddenly it isn't as big of a deal as it would be with ext2. And there isn't really any at all to configure, just selecting ext3.

Ext3 will be the defualt with an Automatic install - manually you can choose other options - go for ext3 for the reasons above.
