Linux on MOS 6502

How to run linux on MOS 6502 processor?
Actualy on its modification: 65EL02

I am noob in that kind of stories (low level stuff)

But i need to run it there. Any ideas?

If it will be too slow, can you recommend some other os that will run GNU tools and have some basic linux programs?

57944 ram is max :P

There was someone that actually ported linux to a 8 bit processor but it took an hour to load and really isn't practical. I didn't save the link but I have posted it in other threads.

linux is really designed for 32bit and higher processors. I am not aware of anything else that will run linux tools or programs on a 6502.

I found it:

I could do a unlimited (probably) cluster
But idk before they release how to use all the stuff in it

I didnt understand what you gave me :P
He ported it to AVR
But i mean how to port it here?

I know lot of people that are still using 6502 CPU. There are various UNIX like OS for different 6502 systems - GNO for AppleGS, Lunix and GeckOS/A65 for C64 and some other Commodore computers.
And there is Elks for Intel 8086/8088/286 CPUs, Minix for 8086 and some other CPUs, Fuzix for Z80, OS/9 for 6809 and many others!

So definitely it is possible for 8 and 16 bit CPUs to run UNIX like OS, in fact some of them were first programmed on such CPUs.

BTW, that link is long dead, not sure if that guy really succeed in this task.

Esp. given that last sentence, why did you resurrect this 8 year old thread?

Because lot of people are discussing this in some Apple 2 FB groups and I was looking if something changed... But no, only C64 and PET (also 6502) Lunix and A65 UNIX exists so far.
