linux on flash drive, is this possible and flash writes, where??

hi! i used to think if linux distro can be place in a flash drive, thumb drive, and the like, is it possible? why and why not??

does anyone knows what FLASH WRITE is?
what files or directory tree that flash writes?

i hope that you can help me.. please feel free to share your ideas, i will really appreciate it. thanks.

Why not google "linux flash drive"?
