linux on firewire


Hello,
I am looking ofr a distro that I can install and run on a firewire drive. Is there one you recommend?

also will I be able to plug that fire wire drive into any computer load linux?

AFAIK firewire drives are not bootable. You would need something like a boot floppy or boot CD. Any distro would be capable but you would also need to recompile the kernel to include the firewire modules or add them to the initrd.

Where USB is standard on PC these days firewire is not. So you would not be able to plug the drive into any computer. However, if you bought a combo USB / firewire drive then the answer would be yes. Newer computers can boot from a USB device
