Linux Noob with an install problem!
Hey all!
I'm a total newb to linux, and I was given an old pentium system for free that needed a little fixin' up. I got win 98 operational but I've decided I want to try linux out on it.
Its an Intel, 75mhz with 32megs of ram and a 6gig HD.
I'm trying to install slackware, and as soon as the CD boots I get this error message:
ISOLINUX 2.13 2004-12-14 isolinux: Disk error 01, AX = 42E5, drive FF
I tried the CD in my newer windows machine (AMD 2800+, 1gb, blah blah) and it started to boot fine. I didn't go any further than the first step.
I heard from someone that it might be a hardware issue.
Can you guys help me out?
Thanks alot!

LOL, ah the old google link reply.
Too bad the only matches it found were the words disk, drive, and error, and all the links make no sense.

Hrmm... yes I think i remember seeing something like this... don't know where but I'd swear it was in some slackforums of some sort. Something about a problem with oldish mobos. Sorry cant help more.
And about the guy with the google answer... sometimes we are lazy, sometimes we are tired, but we always want to help.

Yeah its defenitley an old mobo! I can't find a model number on it. It might be printed on the back of it, hidden by the case and I don't feel like taking the mobo out.
I know 320mb meant well. Trust me, I tried google first before I came here. I moderate on another forum and it pisses me off too when people ask questions easily awnsered by google.
Thanks!!
