Linux Mint 17 (Cinnamon) versus Linux Mint 17-1 (Cinnamon)
I am a very new user of Linux and currently have Mint V17. I can see in my updates that I can update to V17-1.
As Linux is totally different to what I am used to then would it be safe to update to the latest version. Also a daft question but would I need to make a back up copy of any files like Pictures or Documents? Would appreciate any assistance on this Tikiman |
Tikiman,
If Mint 17 is behaving itself then there is no real need to upgrade to 17.1. If you do decide to do the upgrade, then follow the advice here: http://lmelinux.net/2014/12/05/upgra...-mint-17-17-1/ and always do a backup of personal data, including all documents, pictures, bookmarks etc and email folder (if applicable). The alternative is to do a fresh installation of 17.1, after doing a backup. |
