linux login: incorrect login
 

Hi i`m using suse 8.2 and have a problem with login , exactly when i try 2 login in box i can`t do that even i can`t type password example :
login:root or user
incorrect login


this is message i get.

only way 2 login is in init 1 but when i switch in init 3 i can`t login in my box

any help?

What does /var/log/messages tell you? It writes something down every time someone logs in.

when i type user or root in login prompt as i say get incorrect login and again login screen.

I'm not sure I understood that :)
Does it work, or don't you have access to /var/log/messages?
On my computer, I can access it by pressing f12. Else something like
(after booting at runlevel 1) should help.

thx man for helping i was read /var/log/messages and resolve a problem.
(sometimes need someone 2 remember for a lot of things lol)
