Linux in a Windows World
For the longest time the only OS I've ever used was windows. I started with good old DOS, and have worked my way up to XP. Currently, I work as a windows server admin for a rather large company. My current reslonsibilities are for the 55 windows 2003 servers, and 1,500 workstations with almost 2,000 users.
What is funny about all of this is, I don't use windows to administer my network. I use linux... Granted I still have a windows box for small things, but I primaraly use my linux box. Currently I use smbmount, rdesktop, mozilla, a variety of kde apps, and several bash command line programs. So my question is, are their any other windows admins that admin their network from a linux box? If you do, what do you use on your linux box to make windows admin tasks easier? |
I use Linux alot... I use all the tools that you use. Sometimes there are things that I can't do so I use my VMWARE workstation... Work awesome!

This is probably a bit obvious but i'll suggest looking at Sourceforge http://sourceforge.net/
which never cesses to amaze me at the range of programs that ppl have made. I don't really do any real mangeing of servers but I use linux for all my LAMPs and my clusters. btw I love the quote Quote:
