Linux -Hardware Compatibility


Sir,
I have installed Fedura and Suse 10.1 in a 20 GB HDD with P4 3.00 Ghz CPU after sucessfull installation i installed hdd in a saperate machine which is PIII 500 Mhz. Linux not booted in this machine. Is Linux is hardware specific or what is the solution.

Well, You have to make sure you plug your hdd into the right IDE channel or the devices will get all messed up and you wont be able to boot. You also must make sure that the IDE controller of the 500Mhz computer is supported in your kernel.

You could just reinstall on the 500Mhz computer because that will definitely work.
