linux crashed while logging out???

Hey I'm a linux newbie so don't scream lol. I use Suse 10.1 and was trying to get my wireless card working with wifi-radar. Unfortunately it didn't work as usual and had alot of errors in the terminal. I was planning to copy it and send it to windows with my mounted drive but i don't know how to do it through the terminal so I had to go through my root account to set the file permisions to allow my other account to send the files. Funny thing happened while i did that as when i logged out of root it went into a text-mode interface. It kinda looked like a hyped up version of ms-dos I restarted the pc and loaded suse again yet it still ended up there. How do i get it back to the visual interface as it once were?

Try
Code:
init 5
(or if that's not working, then init 2 through init 5, but don't try 1 nor 6). If that's not helping you out, you better start crawling through your system logs to see what the real problem is..

EDIT: oh, and it's no wonder "Linux crashes". It might not be Linux (the kernel) itself but the software, which is just as faulty as every piece of software is.
