Exclamation Linux crashed now won't load

Linux hung and i pressed the reset button. When it was loading up it ask if it wanted to check the files i said yes then it said a few problems where found do u want to fix them i said yes.

Now i can only login though console, i read in the Starter guide on the Mandrake site and it said if this happens enter XFdrake to configure the display. But when i enter XFdrake i get an error saying somthing about the perl interpreter (i can't remember the exact message).

I would rarther not reinstall as i've spent the last two days downloading updates and i dont think rpmDrake keeps the rpms its downloaded

Any ideas what i can do to fix this?

Try instead of XFdrake the command 'xf86config' i think it's included in all distributions. And it doesn't need a perl interpreter

Unfortunately xf86config and reinstalling didn't make any difference the only thing left is reformat and reinstall.
Guess i should have backed up.
