linux conversion
I currently use Win98SE, but I can't stand the errors anymore. I want to switch to a Linux distribution, but I am not sure which one. What would you recommend? I'm looking for one with a user-friendly interface, yet has plenty of features to tweak.

i use and like rh71 using gnome window manager.
note: it is going to take some learning to migrate from windows. linux has, i think, more flexibility and advantages than windows, but be ready to learn and stick with it. linux can do just as much and more. laters, jason |
mandrake and redhat are the most user-friendly installations. suse is also a fairly easy install on most computers. on any of those distros, you have your choice of desktops and window managers.

Me, I'm a fan of SuSE & Mandrake. But my advice is to go to:
http://www.google.com/linux?site=sea...%22cheap+cd%22 and do a search for cheap cd's. Find some dirt cheap ones (that are of recent vintage) and try out the different distros and decide for yourself. And if you have a decent connection to the net, download an ISO and burn yourself a copy. John |
