Linux can't see HDD on IDE RAID controller!!!

When I load the installation of SuSE 8.0 Pro with my HDDs connected to the IDE RAID controller it doesn't find my HDDs.

How can I load the installation so that it either see my HDDs on the RAID controller or ask me for the specific drivers?
Is there a special command or something?

I've tried to load with:
linux ide2=0xXXX, 0xXXX ide3=0xXXX, 0xXXX
(0xXXX being an I/O address obviously)

but it doesn't work, it doesn't give any error and load the installation fine but it still can't see my HDDs.

Does your kernel have IDE RAID support?

Well first of all I don't even know what Kernel means but I suppose it does since it's SuSE Pro 8.0 and it says on the box that it supports IDE RAID controllers. It also gives a list of different recommanded controllers such as Promise, and even mine isn't in the list I suppose it should work as long as I've got the right drivers.
The problem now is to load the installation so that it finds the HDDs that are connected to that RAID controller, and I don't know how to do that.
