linux box - processor speed

I am gonna setup a linux box to serve up my webpage (PHP), the webpage will just mainly contain a lot of pictures, maybe some small video clips and maybe a forum. I am gonna use the Fedora distro, my question is what is the lowest processor speed I could use but still have the site run really well on a cable connection. I am a poor college student so that is why I am asking, hardware price is clutch. thanks

for good hardware prices:

retrobox.com can get like 800mhz systems with HD's ready to boot for like $140

Assuming your box is the server, it's kind of dependant on how much traffic you're expecting. Hell, if you expect one person at any given time to visit and read text documents, then a 486 would work!

How big of files, how much transfer per webpage, average file sizes

All of that will play a roll

Pics would be like >1 meg (100+ images though), vids 5-20 meg, and maybe the most 10-30 hits a day

thanks for that site, i am checking it out now, but that quote you gave sounds good!

Figure out how much bandwidth you'd use in a day. I know sites that have been run on 500mHz machines that ran fine (three or so users at a time browsing a PHP/SQL-based forum), and some gig+ machines that ran horrible (I blame the server admin). I used an 800mHz for mine and never really ran into any problems

thanks!

thanks for help, and the site, it was just what I was looking for.
