Lightbulb Linux BootDisk

The idea/problem......
Want to create a linux bootdisk(on a zip or otherwise, preferably a compact flash card).

Here's the complete thing....

Wanting to create a bootable cd.....
Emulating a floppy preferably......
Loads a graphical LILO.....
Options to boot to what would be considered the dos partition
Or a linux image(jailbait?)
Or the hard drive.....
The Structure of the cd:

Bootable CD currently boots to dos(used a dos bootdisk image) then.....loads cdrom drivers to allow you to see the rest of the cd containing various virus utilities and such.....

However, problem is, it ALWAYS boots to the cd. I want to use a lilo with a default boot to the hard drive.

Or boot to the "dos" boot disk on the cd, or boot to the linux image on the cd.

Ideas? If needed, I can post a link to an image of the cd.

The latest mobo BIOS's can be set to Boot USB Zip drives. I know that you can boot from pen drives so I would think that compact Flash cards wouldn't be any different if it is a USB interface. Haven't tried to boot from IDE Zip drives.

The only thing I can think of is using a DOS boot menu on the CD and using loadlin with the kernel on a DOS partition or CD.

Ugh-a-wug-a-wig-wum

Say that 3 times fast, and that's how I feel.....
I'd still have the problem of only being able to boot to the cd. I want to use a bootloader so that I can also choose to boot to the hard drive. In fact, I want it to boot to the hard drive as default. Sort of like.....*shrug* The windows 98 cd.....
It allows you to boot to either the hard drive or the cd, choose cd, and it allows you to boot to cd with cdrom support or without...

Ideas?

http://www.toms.net/rb/ is a pointer to a place where you can get Linux boot disks that run right from floppy. Perhaps that will either give you what you need or some ideas to help you out.

Michaelk, you mention the fesability of booting from a pen drive, granted your BIOS supports USB boot option. I wonder if you couldn't link me to some data in regards to that. I am quite interested in figuring out how to do as much, but can't seem to get the resources...

Thanks!
