Free--start with TLDP.org
Also, if you search on a specific topic, you will often find tutorials. $$: O'Reilly website---in particular, look at Safari |

That's a great book for both learning, and reference. It has a lot of in-depth material for many different distros. In addition to this, as others have said, online tutorials can be found for individual applications and on broad concepts.
If you haven't checked out the tutorials section, you may want to start there: http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/answers/ And for hardware compatability, check here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/hcl/ |
