Linux and robotics, Linux and operating systems

1. There are some automation systems for product lines in factories.
I know that some of these automation systems was program with Linux and VxWorks and these two software help to program the also the real time, motion control and the drivers for the servo motors.
I want to understand the connection between, Linux and VxWorks, and Robotics, Real time, motion control and drivers for the servo motors.
2. I want to know what the connections between ubuntu and robotics are.
I hear that ubuntu is software that runs on Linux and this software compete with other software that calls Microsoft Robotics Studio.
3. I want to know what the connection between Linux and operating systems is

If you know something that is related to these issues or you know about websites links that are related to these issues so I will glad if you can write them in this thread.

1. google that, im sure you will find much better details in google for what you are looking for there.

2. ubuntu is just one of the many flavors of Linux out there.
