Talking Linux & People & LUGS & Other

Well, this may fit better in the LUG section, but I feel as though it fits here better. If the Admins & Mods feel this is wrong, feel free to move it.

Anyways, I live in an OKC suburb and want to socialize with other Linux users, but all the LUGS I have found have been disbanded or discontinued...

I can't start a LUG because I don't have the resources, time, and quite frankly, I'm too lazy too maintain one...

Is there any alternatives? Is there a way...?

Thanks.....

You want to socialise without actually having to put aside the time to socialise? Sorry, it doesn't work that way.

You have to meet other free software folk.
That is a given.

Unless you put in the effort to meet them, you won't.

You'll have seen:
http://www.linux.org/groups/usa/oklahoma.html
... these people still have contact emails - so contact them. None of the actual groups seem to be active - but the page has leads to active groups. eg:

There is an Oklahoma (Ubuntu) Team Wiki page.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/OklahomaTeam
... in which, there is a mailing list contact.

Your City LUG: OKLUGnuts had their last meeting on Feb11 2010 - so they are probably still active. What about them?
http://www.okclugnuts.org/

It also looks like there will be an open source conference held in okl - so you can find out about it and attend.

The West Texas LUG has a lot of members and attendees from okl.

Seriously - its up to you.

I just don't have time to create and maintain a group; I'm a student.

Thanks for the info. I will be looking into that group.

EDIT: I joined the mailing list for okclugnuts; Hopefully all goes well. I'll also check out Ubuntu IRC; they meet in Tulsa though...

Thanks for searching that info out. i got stuck typing LUG into google bringing me back some outdated info.
