Is up to you. If you put some effort on understanding how Linux work you will stay with it, but if you plan for it to be "easy" and you just plan to install it and everything to work fine and for you to be a guru at it, you will go back to OSX or Windows. It was hard for me at first but now I just can't go back to windows, is the freedom that comes with Linux that I love the most. So what is your motivation, that is the real question.

who are we supposed to know what'll be YOUR decision?
but if you want to know if linux will be "good enough" for you, you should tell us what is is you use your computer for...
and then there's the dissapointment thing - you should give it a try, gfor AT LEAST couple of months, read some books (or web sites - check out the http://www.icon.co.za/~psheer/book/rute.html.gz) about linux, try everything you learn on your os, messing up os, reinstalling linux. - and then decide wether to stay on-linux or return to other OSes...
it's not as easy as win, but eventually you'll begin to like it...like i did...
another thing - don't give up if you don't like your linux - should try several distros...
hope it helped...

Well, with that type of question asking a bunch of strangers you don't know and never met on a online forum, I sense that you lack confidence in learning a new OS and will probably go back to OSX or Windows with just that statement.

If your willing to learn and like challenges; not letting anything defeat you in your own goal to accomplish anything, you might survive.

Its up to you though, you should know not to ask silly questions we truly can't answer though...

linux is this GREAT. its fast, stable, fantastic gui, a little back in video edge from window$ but xfree86.org is trying their best to take over.
computer is NOT a thing with what you replace your tv, cd player, and movie player---but there are other great functions a computer can do---if you believe in this your distro should be linux.

confidence stuff...

about the confidence stuff - it's really the ONLY reason why you COULD decide not to use linux...
linux is BETTER than windows, it gives you more power, but on the other hand, it's more difficult to learn (i'm talking about advanced level here)...
so, you'll probably have a "lots" of problems with linux in the beginning, but, you'll realize they're all pretty much your fault...
under linux, you can fix everything...you just have to reach that level...DOS/windows best-working 'repair program' is format c:

put it to you this way, Microsoft considers Linux to be it's #2 threat, displaced only by the state of the economy...

You asked a question that is only going to generate one's own views and opinions on the actual question you asked. I stated my constructive opinion based on the question you asked as I don't know you, only by the few posts you have made on this site.

If you can't handle someone giving you their opinion on such a question asked on whether your going to go back to another OS after trying Linux, well, you shouldn't get defensive on anyone's reply or opinion.

You should realize that you posting on an open forum, that anyone can read and anyone can gain access to reply to it. I sensed anger out of your reply to mine and feel if you can't handle some criticism and or my or anyone else's opinion, I can only ask you to not ask such a question or questions in the future that will generate such responses.

I only posted what I know based on your question, that's all. Your reply doesn't help yourself in making friends that are only here to help you.

Regards and good luck using Linux...

When you replied and typed confidence in all caps, coming off as if you were yelling it back at me.....

Originally, I do sense the lack of confidence with your actual question, it is a question we truly cannot answer. That's why I posted what I did, I do feel you lack the confidence in trying something new from what your use to using, example, you trying Linux and asking if your going to go back, displays lack of confidence in yourself, that's all.

If you post anything on an online forum, you shouldn't take anything personal, but you are going to get opinions when you ask opinion driven questions.

Regards.

PS. No more bickering or arguing and on with the topic, or I will close this thread. Apparently you can't handle criticism and opinions. If you do feel you want to argue over this, feel free to email me.
