limiting action of insmod to only one card

I have two BT878 based cards in my server, one a DVB-T card and the other an analogue TV card.

I need to use the btaudio driver for the analogue card, however this grabs the audio channels on both cards.

I need to limit the action of the driver to only the analogue TV card. I am fairly sure this can be done with a parameter setting to insmod, modprobe or modules.conf but I can't for the life of me find out where!

If someone could help me with this I'd be grateful.

Taking one card out isn't an option! ;-)

I'd ideally like to have them both running at the same time.

Cheers,

Mark

Try loading the driver for the DVB-T card first. This should grab the audio for the DVB-T card first. Then the btaudio module should only grab the audio for the BT878 card.

Hi nhs. thanks for your reply. I am happy to say that the solution is working, however not quite as your suggestion indicates... the DVB-T card is also BT878 based and unfortunately grabs the audio device from both cards - which is exactly the problem I was trying to avoid.

The solution has been to patch the bt878.c file of the DVB driver to recognise only the PCI_ID of the DVB Card. fortunately this was very easy as the DVB-T card manufacturer uses both levels of card identification (pci sub-id). This patch basically forces the bt878.o module to ignore any analogue cards which really _do_ have an analogue stage.

Looks like the bttv maintainers are considering this approach alongside others for integrating the digital and analogue BT878 card drivers...

Thanks for your suggestion
