Hi

I have installed a dual boot SUSE 8.1 and Windows XP (XP first) on 2 partitions (XP=C). After this, I got a new hard drive and decided to give windows more room. So I loaded XP and told DISKPART to delete D: (SUSE) and then reformat to NFS. After doing this and rebooting, LILO of course went to a blank screen with LI. So I thought 'of course, I've deleted it's boot entry for linux'. So I loaded the XP CD and started the recovery console and FIXMBR and FIXBOOT C

Well, after that, it doesn't boot at all. So I tried a Win 98 boot disk and FDISK /MBR........same thing......No OS found.

LILO appears to have overwritten something in my MBR that windows cannot overwrite and only a reinstallation of LILO will do the trick. I wouldn't mind having LILO doing the booting except when I reformat the 2nd partition to NTFS it dies with LI on bootup.

Any help?

hey there, I had the exact same problem, my remedy?

I went into fdisk and say I had a 30 meg partition (this was from a mandrake 8.2 install) so get rid of it it will be under a nondos partition btw infact delete all partitions if you may all of them then do fdisk /mbr and if that presents still no avail, I will helpl you zero out the disk
