Lilo problems

Trying to install Mandrake 9.2 on my father-in-laws pc.

He has two hard drives, the install seems to go fine until we get to the lilo part.

If we choose to install lilo on the MBR when we reboot all we get after the POST is "99 99 99 99..."

If we choose to install lilo to the 1st sector of the root partion then we get nothing after we reinstall.

and if we choose to install to floppy we get an error while writing to floppy message.

Any suggestions.

You didn't install the developmental packages? As root, command:
urpmi gcc
