lilo in root partition

Hi,
I am running slackware 9.1, debian woody and last night I installed knoppix 3.3. I installed lilo in MBR while instaling knoppix.
Now I have removed lilo from MBR and now I want to install lilo in root partition of knoppix. how can I do that.
Thanx

I'm not an expert on this, but I do not see what good it would do to have LILO in the root partition, rather than the MBR. I don't think it'd be bootable unless it's in the MBR, since that is where your BIOS looks when booting your machine.

Sorry for not writting properly. I have put lilo of Debian in MBR and I will put the bootable partion of knoppix in debian lilo.
Previously, I put lilo of knoppix in MBR and now I have removed that and put lilo of debian in MBR.
Now I want to put lilo of knoppix in its root partition, so that it can be booten from debian lilo installed in MBR.
Is there a way to do it? Hope it won't confuse ANYMORE

Boot into the Knoppix install and run /sbin/lilo -v -b /dev/hd?? replace the ?? with the with the drive letter and number of the Knoppix / partition and then boot your Debian install and in your /etc/lilo.conf you should have the lines:
Code:

other=/dev/hd??
        label=Knoppix

Again replace the ?? after editing run lilo on the Debian install this will chainload the Knoppix install from the Debian lilo in the MBR in effect you will be using lilo twice to boot Knoppix. If you do not want to see the lilo screen twice then edit the Knoppix /etc/lilo.conf and comment out the prompt and set the delay and timeout values to something reasonable for as little delay in the boot as you want before you install lilo into the / partition.
