LILO Bootloader problem - Linux EBDA is big?

I am somewhat new to Linux but have enough of a base knowledge to get me around. I have a dual boot of WinXP and Slackware 9.1. I went to boot up one day into SW and when I tried to load, it gave me the error message: "Loading LinuxEBDA is big; kernal setup stack overlaps LILO second stage"

Now, I have heard conflicting fixes for this problem... what's the deal and can this be prevented?

Same thing happened to me when I accidently converted my linux install to JFS...I just reinstalled linux. Did you mess w/ file systems or partitioning or do anything else that could have caused it? If you can't find the answere there is a program called explore2fs that will read ext2 and ext3 partitions from windows so you can save your important files and reinstall

I figured it out!! When reading up on LILO bootloader configurations... I noticed that "if you are using a large disk, prepare for inconveniences." I read on, and the "linear" parameter for the bootloader fixed my problem.
