Lilo bootdisk(floppy), how do i change the kernel?


Hey there,
I am running Win2k pro and Slackware 8.0 I boot up into linux from a floppy. I was just wondering how do i put a kernel image onto that floppy or is that how go about switching my kernel? I want to switch for added support for video and sound. Also i really don't know how to build a kernel yet, but i imangine i can figure that out. Later.

well, you have to build the new kernel for the system proper before you could use it as a floppy.

When you run mkbootdisk or whatever it'll make it using the currently loaded kernel, and will require new modules to be made. So learn how to make the kernel, and then make a boot disk after that. i'd assume that you can ONLY boot linux from floppy... so you'd want 'make bkdisl' as well when compiling i think
