Lilo

I have windows and linux in my computer. Now, when computer is booting, if i don't do any selection , it's booting linux. And in lilo.conf is a line default "linux". I wanted the windows be the default. So is it enough to change in lilo.conf the default "linux" to "windows"? Or must I do something else?

Nope, just change it in your lilo.conf and you're good to go :)

LinuxLala 07-15-2004 03:14 PM

well yes it would work,

rogk 07-15-2004 03:52 PM

Thanks!
I'll think I need a rescue floppy if something goes wrong. How I make a rescue floppy or boot floppy(I'm not sure about the name) in Mandrake 10.0.

Ps. I'll change the default "linux" to default "windows", but that didn't work. There maybe have to do something more.

Well yes. You need to put default the name you have set to windows.

Read the lilo.conf file. See what are the two options displayed in LILO, is it linux and windows/win...

If it's win, yopu need to write
default win

Maybe taht's what you are missing.

It is "windows".

Hi rogk,
Just one more step you need to do. After you changed your lilo.conf and saved it, run /sbin/lilo from a terminal console to make it work

rogk 07-16-2004 02:44 AM

Now it's working, thanks. I think i'm not a "member" , i'm still "newbie", but that's not my choice ;)

LinuxLala 07-16-2004 05:29 AM

gl;ad to know it's working :) I should've told you before hand that you ned to run /sbin/lilo. That would have sped up things.

Ah well...

Yes, glad to know that your problem was solved :)
