hey, i'm tryin to install this, and yet again i'm getting caugut up... no problem installing it, till it came to this qt-gui nonsense.. that i had to install... it just got a lil confusing, can someone help me out?
oh and another thing, i may want to get into an irc chat from linux... i already have ksirc installed.... it'd be easier to get help i think, but i don't know any of the server or channel names
I have installed licq several times before, it may seem confusing at first, but they give you all the files you need to read. You may have to slightly edit the config script or give it values. I know on my machine, I had to tell it where some packages were because they aren't where licq expected them.
I also recommend using everybuddy, I used it for a long time but it didn't have all the features I wanted.
So I discovered that there is a plug in for Gaim that allows you to sign onto icq and the aim networks at the same time. This one is more featured than everybuddy, but if you don't use an aim name, it might be better to use everybuddy or some other client if you are looking for something other than licq.
The nice thing about some other options is they allow several different network thingies to be in one program and therefore one window.
Although I do have to admit that I think Licq is the best icq program I've seen. Including the windows one.
