libXinerama.so.1 not found
Hi Guys
I was trying to install koffice RPM & due to lots of dependencies concerning upgrading QT and kdelibs , Finally I couldn't
Then when I try after this to load several application I find the error that it could't load the library libXinerama.so.1
the KDE desktop itself does not load for the same reason
I went to rpm seek to find which package supplis the files it is XFree86-libs and some others which I could't install because they conflict with another files
is there a command where I can only install that library from the package
if not any suggestions??/

What distro do you use?
Try to install yum and then use it to remove the koffice package. You should never skip the deps or force an installation i.e rpm -i --force --nodeps xxx.rpm
Probably you cannot remove koffice using rpm -e. It never works for me. Using yum you can remove it and install it again where yum install the nessessary pacakages taking care of the deps.

Depending on what you did in he first place. The problem could also be related to qt sice koffice is written in qt. Anyway dont do anything whitout using yum. I think I would remove koffice using yum and then install it again using yum. If its a while or if you havent update your system lately you could try to update your entire system using yum update.

Sorry you didnt manage to install koffice then you cant remove it. Its difficult to get the thread when the meaasage is not quoted. Ok. libXinerama.so.1 is an xine lib file and I dont think yum find xine in the database so you cant update this package or reinstall it using yum. I have the file in /usr/X11R6/lib dir and I have installed the xine version for Fedora core 2. So I guess you have installed xine and then I would try to reinstall the packages. You could use the --replacefiles option in the rpm command. If you have the file, but your system cannot find it try LD_LIBRARY_PATH command.

export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=path to the file not found. In this case /usr/X11R6/lib
I think this is not the problem, but you can check if the path are in /etc/ld.so.conf which I think it is. If not apply it and type ldconfig which you also must do if you use the LD_LIB.. variant.
You didnt actually answer if you had the file. Type locate libXinerama and see if you have the file, else reinstall xinelibs
