"libtoolize not found" what is going wrong

I'm using Mepis 6.0 and trying to install a source from csv.
Following the README the first command I have to give is "make -f Smake" but it stops with message:

Code:
libtoolize --force --automake
make: libtoolize: Command not found
make: *** [all] Error 127
What am I missing? (automake and autoconf have been updated)

thanks for help

Ok, it was easy enough to make feel stupid, in justification of that I have to say that it is not among the required packages list in the README file.

Thanks for your prompt help

Do they list gcc and make? They assume you have a basic set of tools available on your system to build and install the package. However, unless you're using a source-based distro, this isn't likely to be true until you install all the tools. But, then, I suppose they assume you don't need to build from source with non-source based distros.

Ah, the tangled web we weave.....
