"LI" on Boot Have 2 HDDs w/ Ultrabay.....

I have a T42 Laptop w/ Ultrabay. One hard disk running Red Hat and another hard disk that I want to back up on.

I have backed up disks before using "dd" command (on Suse) but now I cannot get fdisk or anything to recognize /dev/hdc. I assumed the disk I was given to back up has a LILO boot problem.

To confirm I took out HDA and put HDC into main Hard drive slot and booted and got "LI" on boot. I've read that I need to re-format - which is fine (i do not care for any information on the drive)

I do not have a boot disk or floppy on me.... is there a way to boot off of the ultrabay to recognize this disk and wipe it?

there must be someway to do this.

thanks!
