And don't be afraid to do anything wrong (unless your comp is running the life support machines for the local hospital)...it's a good way of learning though it can be painful at times.

Hello all,

I am mainly a Windows guy who was curious in other OS. I received more than 1 year ago a 'demo version of Red Hat 7.2'. I installed and tested it with VMWare first. Then, I created a dual boot partition with RH 8.0 / Win XP and now I have one PC with only Linux RH9.0. I

I think we have to go step by step in this process. It also takes time to put Windows reflexes aside and think Unix. Now, I can do nearly all what I want with my Linux (surf, read email, build my web site, listen to my MP3 ...) But it takes sometimes a lot of time to install what you need ... For example, I am right now struggling with the kernel compilation : I want to read NTFS partition. I know I will succeed but it takes time. I think that generally speaking it takes more time to install something on Linux than on Windows.

Regards,

Vincent
