Laptop specification recommendation for internet browsing/HD video playback

Hi all,
My question is not a very Linux specific question. I am planning to buy a new budget laptop from HP for normal internet browsing & HD videos playback. My previous laptop(dual-booted Ubuntu & Arch) with AMD Turion x2 processor, 3GB RAM, ATI RADEON 3450 512MB dedicated graphics was able to play 720p mkv movies very well but it didn't go well with 1080p mkv files. I am not sure which is more important to play HD videos- processor, gpu or screen resolution. I am confused if I should go for i5 5th gen cpu with/without gpu or 5th gen i3 with nvidia/amd graphics card. I also found AMD A8/A10 processors under my budget.I have few choices as I am not willing to pay for windows and planning to install ubuntu/mint in it. Can somebody suggest minimal configuration for my requirement.

Thanks in Advance!

For HD video the most important part is your GPU and that it supports the commonly used interfaces for hardware video acceleration, like VDPAU or VAAPI. Any modern GPU, including those inbuilt into Intel's CPUs and AMD's APUs, does that. Nowadays even cheap Atom processors are perfectly able to render HD videos without a problem, due to their inbuilt video decoding units.

If the purpose for that machine is just browsing the web and watching HD videos, any somewhat recent machine will do the job just fine, the hardware is largely irrelevant. An Intel Core i5 would be overkill, as the AMD A10 would be. An i3 or AMD A4 would be more than sufficient. A dedicated GPU is not needed.
