Hi everyone

Got an minor importance question about kontrol-panel. I have tried to start it from my RedHat 8 KDE menu to no avail. When I dropped to a terminal window, I got the following.

[root@localhost /]# which kontrol-panel
/usr/bin/kontrol-panel
[root@localhost /]# kontrol-panel
kontrol-panel: relocation error: kontrol-panel: undefined symbol: __ti7QDialog
[root@localhost /]#

Has anyone ever seen this? Thanks.

I recently upgraded from RH7.3 to RH8.0 and included in the long list of problems I have had to solve is the KDE Kontrol-Panel not working. When I try to run it from the shell i get the same error your are getting.

Looking through the new 'control center' it looks like all of the functions of the old kontrol-panel are now in there (eg. kernal configuration). It may be that the kontrol-panel is no longer used and is only in our system as a hangover from RH7.3 (I don't know if you started from scratch with 8.0 or upgraded).

A quick follow up. I finally looked in the place I should have looked first, the RedHat site. Among a long list of packages that have been removed from RH8.0 is kontrol-panel. It is safe to delete the desktop icon, I was right about the functions being moved into control-center.
