Knoppix On Ide1 Doesn't See Ide0

Am a newcomer to Linux.

Decided to install Knoppix on my second hard drive, but, to be safe and so as not to interfere with my existing W2K installation on IDE0, I removed IDE0 from my PC before installing Knoppix. My intention was to reinstall IDE0 after getting Knoppix running on IDE1 and to use my system's BIOS to select which drive to boot from.

Everything works as I expected, EXCEPT.... Knoppix isn't seeing IDE0 now that I've popped it back in (/dev/hda0 isn't known to Knoppix). Can anyone tell me how to get Knoppix to see IDE0 so that I can access the files on it, please?

Alternatively, if I were to start again from scratch and leave both drives in my PC, could I install Knoppix onto the second drive without affecting my existing W2K installation, or would I need some sort of dual-boot utility?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, everyone, I finally stumbled upon a solution to my problem. Edited fstab to include a reference to hda1 by copying the existing entry for hdc and changing the drive reference accordingly, created a mount point at /mnt/hda1 and then mounted the device successfully.

Thanks anyway,

Sparko
