knoppix+fglrx=black screen
 

i am trying to get beryl running on knoppix so i installed the fglrx driver for my ati raedeon 9700 pro and all i get is a black screen. had to revert to my original xorg.conf to post this. does anyone have any tips? thanks in advance for your replys.

you cannot use beryl with the fglrx driver. it does not support the composite extension. you would have to use the open source driver.

so exactly which driver do i need to install?? i tried the ati 8.35.5 driver it doesnt work. where do i get it??

usually the radeon kernel module will already come with your kernel, and you just need to edit your xorg.conf to tell it to use "radeon" there are also some extensions you have to tell it to load for the cube to work. if you have problems check dri.sourceforge.net
